Hello Horties!
Here's a hot topic! I don't think anyone's garden was left unscorched by the recent heatwaves. What have you learned to help your plants beat the heat? Have any of your plants surprised you; either by being tougher than you thought, or not being as heat resistant as you hoped?
My 2-year old Haas (sp?) avocado, loaded with young fruit, appeared fire-burned after those 2 days of 99+ temperatures. Should have known to shade it. After, I threw over floating row covers (white), and shrouded it. Making good recovery now, though burned is burned and dead. I will wait to cut back. My slow-to-germinate and grow "Yard-long Beans" burst into growth after the 99+ weather of several days. Happy and giving lots of beans.
