    Coffee In The Garden...
at the Los Angeles Arboretum Library

    Saturday, June 17
    from 1pm - 4pm,
    with a presentation at 2pm

On Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 1:00 to 4:00, we are pleased to offer a unique “Coffee in the Garden” hosted by Susan C. Eubank, Head Librarian at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, who will be introducing members of the Southern California Horticultural Society to the recently renovated Arboretum Library. The building is an open, beautiful, mid-century modern renovation which houses almost 30,000 items recorded in the online catalog.

Admission to the 127 acre Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden that day will be waived and refreshments will encourage conviviality and lingering with the materials in the beautiful space. NOTE: The Arboretum grounds and parking lot will close at 4:00 p.m. on this date for a Pasadena Pops event.

Please complete registration before Thursday, June 15. If you prefer to register with a check by mail, you can download this flyer and send in the registration by mail.

    Additional information:
The Arboretum Library has been a center for plant and garden information since the 1950s, with a comprehensive collection of books, e-books, historical Arboretum publications which have also been digitized, current and non-current specialized magazines, historic nursery catalogs, rare books and local history. Susan’s presentation will explore the materials, services and programs of this highly specialized resource and will also talk about how she and the Arboretum Library can help you successfully ride the tsunami wave of information about your favorite subject: plants and gardens.

Susan has worked almost her entire 30 year career in small specialized libraries. This is her third botanic garden library following San Francisco and Denver. Susan came to the library world with an undergraduate degree in art history, a graduate degree in library and information studies and a father who loved books and a mother who loved beauty and plants. As a former board member and newsletter editor for SCHS, she hopes that this visit to the Arboretum Library will encourage SCHS members to utilize the wealth of materials and services available.
